Ashes and Steel is the story of Eldritch’s final transformation into the Artificer. It was released on 2016-12-22. It occurs from before sundown on the evening of 2006-12-14 to dawn of the next morning, 2006-12-15. It follows Call the Thunder and precedes The Book of Darwin.

Caitlin Bardue finishes her transformation into the Artificer, applying the tattoos that will keep anyone else from controlling her. The ritual lasts from just before sundown to sunrise the next day, and it’s accompanied by a pitched battle to keep a wave of assorted eldritch horrors from reaching her. Fey, Diamondback, Jericho and Razorback join the fray with Lady Astarte, Security and the Range Crew.
