Although Ayla compares his abilities to Kate's, we haven't seen them used and their weaknesses are different.[1][2] That Chou saw them as a priority threat suggests that he can see in natural darkness as well as his own. He may be an "area of effect" energizer who absorbs light or transforms light similar to Doctor Light (DC).
