Physical Description[]
Cerulea, never call her a smurf. By Rose Bunny, using artflow.ai.
Laura suffers from a mild form of Gross Structural Dystrophy that turned all her skin and hair blue. She usually deals with it when going in public by covering her exposed skin with makeup, and letting people assume that her blue hair is just a teenage fashion statement.
History[]
Larry Thorson grew up in Kansas City, the son of "Big Bob" Thorson, the majority partner of the "Big Bob's Barbeque" chain of restaurants. He was a small boy who liked to do things with his mother and younger sister Julie, instead of the more macho pursuits preferred by his father and older brothers. After Larry became Laura, her therapist theorized that she might have been transgender all along, since she was really happy with her transformation. Nevertheless, Laura kept her attraction for girls, which makes her a lesbian.
Went to a "hoity toity prep school" pre-manifestation.[1]
- had some ... um ... martial arts training," the girl admitted sheepishly. Seeing the withering stare of the adult, she continued. "Um, since I was ... about eight. Mom made me, so my brothers couldn't beat me up all the time,"[2]
Laura's manifestation as a mutant did not sit well with his father, who is a big Humanity First! supporter, particularly when it became clear that it would be hard to hide it due Laura's change of gender and GSD. Laura's mother subsequently left home with Laura and Julie, and the couple initiated divorce proceedings. The female side of the family took the mother's maiden name, Samuels, as their surname.
Laura's manifestation may not have been natural: Hilde Stauffer takes an inordinate amount of interest in her, and has on-campus student agents watching and, in some cases, protecting her. (References are scattered scenes winding their way through multiple stories.)
She works for two families in The Village, the on-campus housing facility for Whateley staff and faculty.[3]
