The Devisor Imaging and Planning Lab is located in the tunnel complex beneath Kane Hall.

The imaging lab consisted of twenty bays, each in a U shape that opened onto a common hallway that went down the middle. In the center of each was a disk shaped holographic emitter for 3D CAD/CAM design work allowing the students to develop their projects in three dimensions. It also had an electromagnetic force field generator to allow the prototypes to be tested for fit, range of movement and other engineering problems without the expense of creating a model outside of Virtual Reality. Each station also had an IBM Blade Center with fifty processing blades and a holographic array for storage. A set of ten ‘thimbles’ each student put on, one for each finger, allowed a completely virtual work space as they talked to a MOCAP system imbedded in the ceiling.[1]

The holographic projectors were designed by Bridget Johnson.[2]

There is a small teaching area in the lab, for use during lectures. It's as large as it needs to be, but no larger.[3]

While Devisor is in the name, this area isn't really that useful for devisors; the blade center will insist that the math work in a normal universe. Unless, of course, they understand their 'world view' well enough to explain the differences sufficiently that the blade center can model the alternate physics properly. Given that caveat, students in the Advanced Technologies Program can use this facility for VR modeling of new inventions, enabling them to locate problems prior to actually creating prototypes. The ability to model their creations, and modify them based on changing criteria immeasurably hastens the design cycle. And once they have settled on a final design, they can directly output that design to the fabrication equipment.
