Calla Declan, looking shy and helpless. She is shy, helpless... By Rose Bunny, using Artflow.AI
Fern (Calla Declan; formerly Jay Daclan), formerly the annoying and downright evil little brother of Lancer[1], Jay manifested sometime in 2007, but it took until the end of September to realize he had manifested. That realization took the form of finally noticing that he was growing breasts. As a mutant, Calla still has an emotionally unhealthy rivalry with Lancer, but now she's afraid he'll hurt her at Whateley.[2]
Appearance[]
The person, no the female, looking back at him shouldn't exist. She hadn't existed until the start of December. The big blue eyes, the freckles, the shaggy caramel blonde hair his mother had insisted couldn't be shaved or even cut short, only trimmed into something the hairdresser called a pixie cut, the stupid girlish face with chubby red cheeks, a tiny chin, and big red lips, she shouldn't be there.
Calla is on the short side, who has to use an A-Cup, and she considers that too big.
Due to her mother removing all her old clothes and buying an entirely new wardrobe, most of her clothes are long dresses, along with feminine shirts and pants, to make her look like a "proper young lady". This is the last thing Calla wants, but she wasn't given much say in the matter.
Personality[]
When she was Jay, he was a fairly normal military kid, with one BIG problem, he had and still has a very unhealthy rivalry with Lancer.
When their father left for the Iraq war, Jay was young and didn't know how to emotionally deal with a missing father and knowing his dad could die. So he became rather obsessive about spending time with their mother, insisting that everything had to be 'fair', and resenting any extra time his then sister got. This very quickly turned into a one sided rivalry and hatred, which he never got help with.
When his sister Hannah manifested and became Hank, those feelings got worse, and ended with Lancer being hunted by the military for a week.[1]
A year and a half of Lancer being at Whateley, combined with Jay manifesting and becoming Calla, has done nothing to make the rivalry go away. It has just shifted from Jay hating Lancer, to Calla fearing Lancer. She is convinced that Lancer somehow made her manifest and change into a girl. She is equally convinced that now that she's no longer protected by their parents, Lancer is at best going to make her life a living hell, and at worst make sure she gets seriously hurt. She still wants to prove she's better than Lancer.[2]
Turning into a girl has also left her feeling depressed, and her seemingly weak powers hasn't helped. She wasn't given any time to adjust, or choose what she wants in terms of clothes, codename, or name, it was all just forced on her. It wasn't until she was on her second day at Whateley and had a talk with her new friend and roommate, Dastardly Daughter, that she was willing to accept that she is now a girl and her name is Calla. Despite this, she has tried to be nice to other junior high students, and polite to older students that are friends with Lancer, like Mule.[2]

Powers[2][]
Exemplar 2: She's a tough thirteen year old, and has the potential to be very flexible.
Regen 3: She is a low level regen 3.
Manifestor 3: She manifests flowering plants up to large bushes about eight feet tall and ten feet in diameter. She has best results when she manifests purple flowers, which have no known match in nature, but she can make smaller natural flowering plants. She can also match her purple flowers with the looks of another plant, so a purple flowered bush with rose thorns, or hanging plants covered in her purple flowers. It's unknown if it would work with poison ivy or similar things.
She can usually only make one manifestation at a time, and usually has to know where it will manifest. But when surprised she has made several bushes at once, and doesn't need to look at where they'll appear.
