The Franks are Kayda's family. They are for the most part residents of South Dakota.

Little Doe

Little Doe is Kayda's maternal grandmother. She is a Lakota Medicine Woman. She fast tracks Kayda's registration into her tribe. Eventually it is revealed that Little Doe was an important shaman known as Grey Skies.
Pete Franks
Pete Franks is Kayda's father. He defends the family farm as Kayda and her mom make their escape. He carries two Colt M1911 Automatics, either concealed or openly in waist holsters. He is both a farmer and a businessman, co-owning a farm implements lot.
June Franks
June Franks is Kayda's mother. She takes Kayda to Sioux Falls, and eventually to Whateley Academy. She inherited the family farm and ranch. She is an excellent cook, making homemade chokecherry jelly and other goodies.
Kayda Franks

Kayda Franks was born Brandon, but manifested as a mutant in February 2007. She became the avatar of Ptesanwi and Tatanka, two important Lakota spirits, which make her powerful but also paint an enormous target on her back. Her small town didn't take well to the mutant trait, forcing Kayda to seek refuge with the Sioux Falls League. Afterwards she went to study at the Whateley Academy.
Danny Franks

Danny Franks is Kayda's younger brother. He had an inactive meta-gene, which eventually manifested in late May 2007. He is an Avatar like his sister, and was bonded to a cougar spirit named Wihinape,[1] turning him into a shifter with four forms: human boy with minor GSD, "kitty-boy", "cat-girl" and a female mountain lion.
Brenda Franks
Frank and June's third child. As of 2011, she is three years old.[2]
Aunt Ida
Danny and Kayda's aunt, she helps out at the farm while Kayda and her mother travel to Sioux Falls and the Whateley Academy.
Uncle Roger
Danny and Kayda's Uncle, he co-owns a farm implement lot with Pete Franks.
NOTE: I've made an assumption that Roger is Pete's brother, but it is neither supported nor denied in the few stories I've checked.
