Maiden Starlight (Current name Gwendolyn Carter, but born as Penelope Anne Jones) is a freshwoman starting in the winter term and housed in Whitman Cottage. Previously known as Pulse, Copycat, and Stitches.
Personal History[]
Penny Jones grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where her mother (a former dancer and showgirl) worked as a choreographer and her father as a croupier. She manifested during a soccer game when a teammate got injured and displayed her healing power for the first time. After her testing and getting an MID under the codename Pulse with the only power of Healer 4.
Agent Darryl Caldwell, who oversaw Penny's testing was on take from the Del Rosa Family, one of the four major crime families in Vegas, all of which were forcibly recruiting mutants. Fearing a coming war between the four families, Penny's parents tried to get her out of Vegas and somewhere safe. Her father, David, stayed behind to try to keep his boss, Frankie Salvatore (Head of the Salvatore family), off their trail while Maggie, tried to slip out of town with Penny.
Penny's father was killed in a shootout with men from the Salvatore Family, and members of both the Salvatore and Del Rosa family attempted to capture Maggie and Penny. Maggie used the opportunity when one of the combatants was distracted after killing the other two, to run him over and crush him against the wall of a building, but she was critically injured while doing so and Penny couldn't do anything about the brain injuries and needed to run before more pursuers arrived. She healed her mother as best she could in a short time to stabilize her and after calling 911 she fled, hoping to keep her mother safe by taking her out of the equation.
After taking a bus to Los Angeles, where she disguised herself as a boy and altered her appearance, she met Feast, a mutant runaway who was being attacked by gang members. After healing him, he invited her to stay with him and a group of other mutant runaways including Asphalt, Slider, and Tresse. She stayed with them and discovered that she was also a power mimic, but could only copy powers while healing a mutant.
The gang that had been after Feast when she first met him found their hideaway while Penny and Asphalt were away. Feast and Slider were killed and Tresse would have likely been as well if she was not a high level regenerator. Asphalt was taken into custody by the Hollywood All-Stars after the following fight with the gang members while Tresse and Penny were taken to the hospital and put into Proteus's custody. Penny then tries to heal Proteus's niece, Gwen Carter, who manifested in the attack Bastion made on her family three years earlier and was resuscitated but effectively brain-dead. As a result she ended up copying the girl's unique BIT along with her exemplar trait to one of her two permanent power slots.
Penny is later convinced to take on Gwen's identity and after pulling a switch in the hospital she is thought to be the real deal and thought to have made a miraculous recovery thanks to her BIT. While she is still in the hospital, Gwen's identity as 'the survivor of Bastion's attack' is exposed in an article on the front page of the L.A. Times, along with a photo and her name. She and Tresse are taken into protective custody by The All-Stars and move into the team's mansion.
Powers[]
Healer: Gwen is able to heal herself and others to the degree of a Regen 4.
Power Mimic: When she heals someone else with powers, Gwen can latch onto one of their powers randomly. She originally has two permanent slots and two temporary ones that she can use for up to 4 hours before the copied power fades away. She can make a temporary power permanent, but it becomes permanent and cannot be switched out as she learned when she did so with her Exemplar trait, taking up one of her two permanent slots.
Exemplar: She has the full physical and mental package for an Ex 3.
Appearance[]
Gorgeous, in an ethereal sort of way; porcelain white skin with ice blue hair with a slightly metallic sheen that glows with its own light, matching glowing freckles scattered across the bridge of her nose and cheeks, and big bright turquoise eyes that glow brightly as well. Her face is like a work of art with plump lips, a delicate nose and chin, high and well-sculpted cheekbones, and those big eyes with thick lashes. She is five feet nine inches tall and looks around sixteen years old with an Exemplar physique, including shapely hips, D cup breasts. a very slim waist, and some awesome abs. She has nice long legs too, and the whole overall package is something Gwen thinks of as both super-hot, and a little strange due to the glowing hair, eyes, and freckles.
