Oriole/Iris Cortanza, fourteen years old from Denver Colorado. She's a junior high student at Whateley starting in March 2017.
In 2016, she was on her deathbed from a number of genetic disorders, but primarily cystic fibrosis. Then she manifested and began to rapidly get better, recovering from her illness, while gaining weight and height so quickly she suffered from excruciating growing pains. Over several months she grew yellow wings from between her shoulder blades.[1]
Due to bullying, she couldn't stay at school in her hometown and went to live with Ms. Carrow, a hospital volunteer and family friend who had taken special care of Oriele before and after manifesting. They learned of Whateley from a mermaid performer at the Denver Downtown Aquarium, and had her registered a week later in March, 2017.

Initially Oriole[1] was dying and looked to be on her deathbed.
Iris looked at her with dull, tired eyes. The girl had always been skinny for the nearly two years Tiffany had known her, but the latest lung infection had melted the flesh away, leaving her cheeks hollow and sallow skin stretched tight across her bones. A deep, gasping wheeze came from the girl with every breath.

After manifesting, she grew in size to be 5'7", her eyes turned lemony yellow, she gained yellow wings that stretched out are about the length of her arms, and has thick black hair. Due to her wings she needs to get shirts that are scoop neck and open back. She wears a cape to hide them in public.

She just qualifies for Exemplar 3, mostly due to her endurance. The BIT gave her small angel-like wings, and yellow eyes.
Energizer 2 is almost purely for flying. The wings aren't needed except to make her more agile and help her turn while flying. She can also ignore temperatures as low as -40.
