Payback Is a B-!, is a brand new story for Jay Declan and Dastardly Daughter, written by Domoviye, with help from Amethyst, Morpheus and Elrod. It is set at the start of the winter term in Whateley. It follows The Dastardly Daughter.

Summary[]

On January 5th, 2008, Lancer and his younger sibling Calla Declan, formerly Jay, leave Washington D.C. at the end of the winter vacation. Calla is less than happy about this, as she is still very uncomfortable in her own skin having turned almost fully into a girl just a little over a month ago. She also believes that Lancer will hurt her in some way at school. Despite her protests and wanting to wait for the Fall term to enter Whateley, her parents make her go.

At the Berlin airport, she meets Pippa Minx Mischke, otherwise known as Dastardly Daughter. As two new students, and both in Junior High, they hit it off fairly quickly. Calla sees Dastardly as a potential friend, and Dastardly sees Calla as someone who looks like she needs protection. We also learn that Calla's codename is Fern.

Upon arriving at Whateley, Headmistress Carson meets Lancer and Calla to discuss their feud. It is quickly decided that if the siblings are in Poe, it will likely end poorly, so Calla is placed in Dickinson, so the pair will have plenty of space.

That evening Calla and Dastardly have dinner with some of the other junior high students, including Ewe, Chain Mail, and Kaylie. The Kimba's see Calla for the first time, and Generator gets 'permission' to lightly prank Calla.

Dastardly and Calla talk that night in their shared dorm room, getting to know each other better.

On January 6th, Dastardly has a meeting with her advisor, Mrs. Hawkins. It goes poorly when Dastardly starts screaming insults at the advisor due to being shoved into remedial English. Headmistress Carson goes to Imp and despite her lack of experience, Imp agrees to become Dastardly's advisor. When Imp meets the girl, things go much better.

At the same time, Calla has power testing. She learns that she can manifest different flowering plants and hybrid flowering plants, not just her purple flowered bushes. She also finds out that her exemplar rating that had been estimated to eventually reach 3 or 4, was stunted due to a serious bout of meningitis in November that nearly killed her. Due to her manifestation still forming, her body switched to regeneration, healing her and altering her body very quickly. This cut her exemplar ability at a middling 2, but gave her a regeneration of 3.

Upon leaving the power testing, Calla meets Mule, who wants to speak to her in private about the JROTC and the Grunts. At Range 6, Mule asks her about the feud with Lancer, which Calla keeps vague, and tells him to talk to Lancer if he wants more details. Mule then explains the Grunts, saying her father asked him to consider her for membership. Mule says that he will decide when Calla has shown she is good enough to get a chance at joining, and that she has to be willing to work with Lancer. He also promises her that he'll make sure Lancer doesn't do anything to harm her chances or mess with her in the JROTC.

In another part of Whateley, Dastardly hears Ewe being bullied and rushes to see what's going on. She sees Buster looming over Ewe, and gets in between the pair. After threats from both sides, Dastardly uses her zap gloves to taze Buster, leaving him temporarily paralyzed in the snow. She then walks Ewe back to Twain.

That night in Crystal Hall, Calla is feeling down due to being weaker than Lancer. Dastardly tries to cheer her up, and when that doesn't work, the girl tells Calla to eat quickly because they have something important to do.

Calla and Dastardly end up in the Dickinson basement gym, where Dastardly tries to show that being smaller and weaker isn't as important as attitude and fighting dirty. Dastardly gets a bit overexcited and what had started off as basic sparring gets a little violent, causing Just Me to step in.

After some talking, Just Me offers to teach both of them to defend themselves, focusing on Calla learning how to protect herself from bricks like Lancer. They accept, and while Just Me goes to collect somethings, Geist comes over and tells the pair that Just Me is a violent criminal. Just Me overhears the end of it, and gets Geist to leave by informing the girl that she is now the TA for the Winter Special Topics: Advanced Survival.

Calla and Dastardly enthusiastically begin their lesson, which is about how to use pepper spray to the best affect, since eyes are usually a weak spot for bricks, even PK supermen.

After the lesson, and showers, Calla talks to Dastardly about how to deal with feeling weak and powerless. Dastardly gives useful, but rather violent advice, that gets Calla thinking about her new life as a girl. At the end, Calla accepts that she's a girl, and no longer the boy Jay. She's not happy about it, but it's a step forward.
