Whateley Academy Wiki

The Phoenix Warriors is the main superhero team in Phoenix, Arizona. They cover the entire Phoenix Metropolitan Area, trying to keep the peace in the largest metropolitan area in the Southwestern USA, that currently has three drug cartels vying for power, many supervillains and a high crime rate.

They appear in Making a Noise in The World, as antagonists to Forte.

Confirmed Members[]

Lolomi[]

The leader. An origin hero. He has a basic turquoise, white, and yellow uniform with a large domino mask and graying black hair.[1] According to a microstory by the author Domoviye, his power is mostly defensive.[2]

His power connects him to something powerful that turns his body into glittering stone. He can survive intense heat and despite having no facial features can talk and see normally.[3]

Sun Hawk[]

Main article: Sun Hawk

June[1]: A mutant and former Whateley student who has been with the team for a year. Her powers are:

“Fast flight, with agility, reflexes and speed the equivalent of an Exemplar 4, but only slightly enhanced strength and durability. I'm the eyes in the sky, sniper, and deal with the chaff. I'll make sure anyone who isn't a huge brick stays off your back.”[2]

She is dating and living with The Mogollon Monster. She has an armoured golden feathered costume.[1] She uses a shock baton.[4] She is also a college student.[1][5]

After fighting with Forte, she has suffered severe brain trauma. She is expected to recover, but until she does which is expected to take months[3], she has trouble speaking, and her hands badly shake.[6]

The Mogollon Monster[]

Dae-Jong[1]: Newest member of the team, just finished high school at Whateley.[2] He's Korean, looks like a Sasquatch. He is extremely strong and durable, capable of juggling truck engines, and going hand to hand with The Cannibal[1][7]. He is strong enough to throw a car at a hundred miles an hour.[3]

He is dating and living with Sun Hawk after she offered to let him move into her apartment when he couldn't get a decent apartment in the city.[1][7]

With the injury to Sun Hawk, which he witnessed, it seems he's developed some PTSD like symptoms when it comes to thunder.[3]

Old Scratch[]

A wizard. Wears an old fashioned derby hat and has sharp features.[5]

It is rumoured, and all but confirmed that he is a demon. Why he decided to become a hero is unknown, but he made a pact to support Lolomi as a hero, in exchange for never having his past looked into by the hero. He saved Sun Hawks life, by using magic and the soul of a dog to stabilize her while the doctors performed surgery on her. He does not like holy symbols held by true believers, and if he has to deal with them is grumpy for a week.[3]

He has travelled through different dimensions and collected many favours. He openly said he enjoys getting favours because you never know when they'll come in handy. He's used a few of them at various times for the Phoenix Warriors.[8]

Janet[]

Devisor and gadgeteer. Looks like a fantasy dwarf.[5]

She'll help her friends with personal gadgets, like reinforcing toilets for particularly large people, in exchange for pizza and beer.[7] She also makes holographic projectors so her friends with GSD can hide their appearance.[6]

Magma Man[]

Can turn himself into something similar to lava and keep his human shape.[5] His footsteps melt pavement in this form, and he can walk through intense flames and heat without any problems.[3]

Desert Rat: Has beady eyes and likes pork rinds.[5] He is a geokinetic, capable of shaping rock and cement from a distance.[9] He's friends with Mogollon Monster.[3]

Shadow[]

Can rapidly alter his appearance and sex.[5][3] He claims to be able to tell if someone is lying. He is also willing and able to torture a criminal to get information.[3]

Roadrunner/Kasa Walker[]

The newest member of the team, and currently on probation. She is Lolomi's niece, and had spent the last few years as a minor hero in Tucson, Arizona. She is an albino, with GSD that changed her hair to feathers. A member of the Hopi tribe, she is an active member in their festivals and ceremonies.

In Tucson she was a bike courier, using her superspeed and short range teleportation to give her a small edge. As a hero, she has a white padded suit with armour at key points, and an all concealing helmet that looks a little like a stylized birds head. She uses a short whip and small explosives in combat. [4]

Wind Dancer/Laysa[]

A not so willing member of the Phoenix Warriors, Laysa is repaying a debt she owes to Old Scratch for saving her life. She will work with the Warriors for five years and a day, doing whatever is required including sacrificing herself. As part of the deal her basic needs will be taken care of by Old Scratch, and Lolomi has promised her an allowance.

She appears to be a beautiful Indian woman, with dark makeup outlining her eyes and quite a bit of jewellery. Every move she makes is graceful as she is a trained dancer. If this is her real appearance is unknown as she comes from the Plane of Air. She is a magical entity who must obey a promise and repay a debt.

Primarily relying on her magic, which she seems to wield through dancing, she can fly, hypnotize people, create small tornadoes and blinding dust storms. She claims she can also fight with an iron studded staff. [8]
