A portrait of Sterling, by Warren.
Sterling (Rebecca "Becky" Sawyer) is a freshman in Whitman Cottage. She rooms with Tanya.[1]
Events[]
On 2016-09-06, Tanya arrives and is introduced to her roommate, Sterling. She learns about Sterling's power, and that she's (mostly) immune to it.[2]
On 2016-09-21, Tanya is talking to Vic and remembers she's got a breakfast appointment with her roommate. She has it written on her hand so she will remember.[3]
On 2016-10-01, Sterling sees Jamie Howe walk into the glen where two of the stoner guys are smoking weed, and tries to recruit one of them. Sterling catches a glimpse of a list of people on her pad. Jamie's manner is hardly reassuring.[4]
Later, Scarlyt notices her, and decides that cultivating her might be useful.[5]
Appearance[]
- There was a girl...no, a young woman really...sitting on the right-side bed with her arms wrapped around her knees, a book lying open in front of her as though it had been dropped. Even curled up as she was, Tanya could see enough of her figure to be jealous. Her skin was a deep, forest green color, but that did nothing to detract from her obvious curves and the well endowed chest that Tanya could glimpse past her knees. And her hair...it was long and full, falling gracefully down her back like a sterling silver waterfall. Tanya could see where she'd gotten her codename from, for sure.[2]
In fewer words, Becky is a statuesque teen with the silver hair and pale lime skin.[6]
Powers[]
She makes people not notice her and forget her. It's a semi-automatic reaction.Tanya is fortunately resistant to the problem.[2] Malefis suspects that avatars like herself or Sequoia, the RA, had a slight bit of resistance in the form of the spiritual presence that warded off whatever effect caused her powers.[7]
Kinesio and Feedback are less resistant but it turns out that some herbal preparations also help her. Jenifer Chalmers is also mostly immune.[5][8]
Donut can almost see her, and his pastries can help Sterling relax enough to be seen. Cookie can also perceive her.[9] Vic Rivera doesn't completely forget her.[10]
Sterling sees Sequoia as literally tree-like: a leafy giantess and wooden-limbed, suggesting that she can perceive some avatar spirits.[11] She sees Dr. Cody as bulky and bearded and bearish.
