Tales of the MCO is a standalone story written by Bek D. Corbin, with numerous additions by other Canon authors (or, as described in the title block, "with copious amounts of smartass commentary by various Whateley Canon Authors"), and set at an indeterminate date in the 2006-2007 academic year.
The first year students of Poe Cottage gather in the sunroom to watch a TV show called Tales of the MCO (coincidentally sponsored by Goodkind International) and heckle it (in the style of Mystery Science Theater 3000 "Riffing"). The episode they watch is entitled "Betrayal of Innocence": A teenage girl called Suzy discovers she's a mutant, and after researching mutants on the Internet, decides to pay a trip to the local "Evolution Rocks!" storefront. Unfortunately, she's tracked by the "Maximum Brigade", a mutant supremacist cell intent on recruiting her to power a devise intended to activate dormant mutant genes city-wide (and kill baselines in the process). Throughout their scheming, they are tracked by the show's protagonists, MCO officers Zimbalist and Webb, who eventually intercept the Maximum Brigade after they've coerced Suzy into arming the devise. Unfortunately, the Maximum Brigade escape and powering down the devise kills Suzy.
