I wonder...[]
I have been thinking, and I want to put this for discussion... this is not even a proposal, it's just bouncing ideas...
Would it, perhaps, be better if we split Eldritch (Caitlin Bardue) and Hijacker (Erik Mahren) as two separate articles?
It came to me while converting Xaltatun's earlier timeline entries to the new, references-based format and doing general cleanup... (by the way: Thanks, Xalt, that was an amazing job, posting all those entries in like a week. AND you got the idea of the new format and started converting them yourself, when nobody in his right mind would complain if you left them in the original format for others to tweak at a later date. You are a class act.)
Where was I? Oh yes, Eldritch. It began to bother me to have all those references to Mahren being linked to a page called "Eldritch." It's like a mega-spoiler. Granted, Erik was turned into Caitlin right in his first appearance. But then there came those backstories -- Parkour Jam Hooligans, and the Halloween stories...
Also, from a structure point of view, Hijacker is a character on his own right, having a rich backstory *that interacts with the other characters*. I mean, he's part of the Dragonslayers, he's an instructor, he was the Hooligans sponsor. It's fully possible that more flashback stories with him will be written eventually, he's an interesting character beyond being "Caitlin's previous life." So having his stats, personality, relationships etc. standing on their own, instead of only the "updated" Caitlin version makes some sort of sense.
Having both info in the same entry, though, I think it's a bit... unwieldy.
If you guys agree that this is a good idea, the way I would do it (subject to criticism, of course) would be to have a full writeup on Mahren's own page, with his bio ending up in a note to the tune of "After Halloween Mahren experienced a late emergence of mutant powers, undergoing a massive burnout, and is reported as interned in ARC Black. Further info can be found a the Eldritch page.
On the Eldritch we would include a short synopsis of Hijacker's entry, with a link like Wikipedia uses, "See main article: Hijacker". The main body of the article of the article would concentrate on Eldritch post-transformation.
(Oh, and by the way, we would need to do something similar about Merry. Hijacker/Caitlin is debatable, but I don't think Merry/Paige/Petra is). --Sir Lee 23:43, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, definitely, I agree completely. There's also Fireball and Tool, but in those cases there probably isn't enough material to warrant a separate articles. Addiab 00:33, April 23, 2010 (UTC)
